Promised Land is a collection of essays by Kyle Bylin that chronicles how disruptive startups and digital youth reshaped the music industry. It begins by showcasing Bylin's unique take on the piracy debate -- how major label thirst for blockbuster artists encouraged fans to file-share music, and why unlimited access to songs makes them feel overwhelmed by the number of options. The book then explores a wide array of music services and applications that strive to change how people listen to and discover music. Bylin, a North Dakota native turned music technology writer, takes readers on a journey to the center of the music industry and the social music revolution.

Kyle Bylin is a respected music tech journalist, who has thoughtfully considered current issues in the music industry from a variety of perspectives.
Kyle has awesome insight and was around during some crazy times. Worth a read.
This is a must-read for any student of the new music industry and all those interested in disruptive change in media.
That was a helpful insight which built a bridge between what happened after the file-sharing revolution till almost today - it helped me a lot in understanding the evolution of music business after I read a big book on the golden era of major labels before the introduction of the CD. Thanks, Kyle!
