Hudson Highland was a bear shifter trying to escape his fate by hiding away instead of finding his mate. Luckily for him his mate Riley was sent to him instead through his publisher. As much as he tries to fight it there is no winning when it comes to trying to defy the pull of your destined mate. This was an excellent story though not very long. It is part of a series, but satisfying to read on its own.
Her job is to help a writer who has a writers block.
He didn't know she was coming and actually he doesn't have a writers block, although he still has to write some more to get his deadline he has other problems, shifter bear problems.
Her showing up makes them even worse, since she is his mate.
Like the way he tries to sent her away, but she is stubborn and the attraction is to big.
The moment they give in, pfff, hot steamy hot.

Riley James is tasked with helping author Hudson Highland finish his latest book. Problem is, he doesn't want any contact with women or the outside world right now.
When Riley shows up, he is not happy. Riley doesn't understand why he won't let her help and doesn't understand their instant connection. Hudson tried everything to chase her away and resist his bear but Riley is made of sterner stuff.
The sexual tension builds and makes life interesting for the both of them. This is an awesome short story and I can't wait to see what these authors do with upcoming editions.

This wasn't a bad book but it was just pretty surface. There was no character development and the heroine spent over half the book taking naps. There was a lot of sex but I found myself skimming for some reason. I was completely turned off when she's all gung-ho to have sex the morning after rough sex when she's all raw and sore and talks about how painful and pleasurable it is. Ugh. I also found his behavior to be very immature and rude--although it's supposed to be because he is so conflicted and tortured. Not sure whether I will give the next book in the series a look or not. Like I said, this wasn't bad but it didn't distinguish itself in any way, although it's length probably contributed to that.
A combination of smoldering sexy with light angst/drama encompasses this brief story. I get the feeling that the storylines further develop as you go on with the series but I can't be certain because the ending's a bit abrupt. It'd it does however, the anticipated shifter dilemma should be a good added addition to the background of the relationship each installment focuses on.
I did enjoy reading this brief interlude but I do wish there was a bit more... Then again, that's what series are for... To keep you hungry for more or spark enough curious it's to continue.. I'm still on the fence about continuing after reviewing the synopsis of the subsequent books but it was a good read.

About 69 pgs, no cheating, HEA, and no cliffhanger but more story to tell!
Riley is sent to help author Hudson finish his next book. She finds him out in a remote forrested nice cabin. He is not expecting her and is not exactly welcoming. However, he is forced to allow her to stay when her rental car won't start. He has secrets and is trying to hide from finding his mate. Fate sure is funny!
I received a copy of this story a long while back and finally got around to reading it. What a gem.. I'm sad I let it sit for so long and will probably buy this series bundle for the low price.
Enjoyed reading about these two characters and I can wait to read more. Shifters storyline are amazing to read and enjoy.
